A Decade…
It’s such a strange thing, the way we start to look at life as we head for the “middle mark”.
Yes, I’m 40 this year and I can’t believe it took me so long to create some of these healthier habits in the mornings. I’m sure once kiddies come into the picture these moments of quiet will revert back to late nights or diminish altogether! 😂😭✨
I cannot believe that it’s 2021. That’s such a sci-fi(esque) number! We’re still in the midst of the pandemic but the UK has already vaccinated about 30% of its population.
Last year was a roughy but we still have so much to be grateful for. I got back a few weeks ago from a crazy busy trip to SA. So much to pack up and sort. You see, I got my 5-year global talent visa and am so over the moon for Stace and I. Being proud but realistic bearers of South African passports, the process has been far from easy. We are so grateful to have solid support this side from friends and family who have naturalised here.
I remember 10 years ago. I was launching into a busy season at my relatively fresh Heritage Sound build. Loads of projects coming my way and I was burning candles at all ends! 😵👾
All those frantically busy years have brought me to this good place. Despite the pretty traumatic, very taxing trip to SA, I have had some time to heal up to a point where I’m ready to step up into a better rhythm again.
It’s amazing what nature and quiet reflection can do for us in those deepest parts.
From a healthier soul, I feel so much more motivated to tackle the mundane admin tasks as well as those bad old physical, emotional barriers that seek to pull us down daily.
I’m learning that for myself there is no set formula to productivity. My output is exponentially better when I can “flow” with both the energy surges and lulls. These can be daily, sometimes weekly!
Okay, so that’s enough of the personal journal/reflection vibe. Let’s get onto more juicy happenings 🤤🌈✨
I think I’m pretty much ready to announce some very exciting progress on that new audio venture I mentioned a few months ago.
I’ve called it…
DARK BEAR AUDIO
I’ll do another post dedicated to it soon and have loads of plans to do super candid, honest vids about my journey in audio gear, music production, nerdy bits and more!
I’m leading the launch of DARK BEAR AUDIO with an actual piece of hardware which I’ve been working on with an amazing friend of mine in Serbia. His name is Saša Ristić. He owns an incredible technology company called BeeBird Audio. He has built this prototype for me which is just incredible. We’re busy putting it through some pretty vigorous tests and will hopefully have it finalised any day now. I’ll be making a limited run of 5 to start and they will be used as demo/sale units for close friends/colleagues in the industry.
Okay, lovely folk who have read up to here. Meet ‘The Dark Bear’ in its absolute prototype one stage. We’re still on the hunt for the perfect knobs, switches and custom VU meter but that will come in time!
